President,
Members of the International Olympic Committee,ladies and gentlemen,and,permit me to say so with all my heart as I have known many of you for a long time,
Dear friends,
Some of you may remember that I had the honour of presenting Paris’s bid to you in 1986 in Lausanne.Today,it is with emotion,and with passion,that I lay before you France’s hope and ambition to organize the Games of the 30th Olympiad in Paris in 2012.
Paris’s bid is that of France:a united,enthusiastic France who is rallying nationwide to host the Games.A France determined to place her excellence,her sites,her way of life and her experience in the organization of major sporting events to further the dreams and values of the Olympic spirit.
All Parisians are ready,all French people are ready.They are eagerly awaiting your choice,your sovereign decision.Almost a century after holding her first Games,France is longing to welcome athletes from all over the world,together with the entire Olympic family.We are united behind a collective,ethical and forward-looking project.A project combining innovation with respect for the environment.
France,as you know,is deeply committed to the values of the Olympic spirit.The values of peace,sharing,respect,friendship and dialogue among peoples and among cultures.Values also shared by France.
The France of Pierre de Coubertin is ready to welcome the Olympic flame,the flame that casts the light of its ideal of peace and tolerance on humanity.
France is intent on offering the world unforgettable Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The heart of Paris and the heart of France are beating in unison in the hope of being Olympic soil in 2012.
